2008 WV Sports Hall of Fame
MAY 4, 2008 -- MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Gov. Joe Manchin presents Olympic gold medal gymnast and West Virginia native Mary Lou Retton with her induction into the West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.
Retton, a Fairmont native, won the hearts of millions at age 16 by becoming the first and only U.S. winner of the individual all-around gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
